For a good part of my life, I've been on the road. On the move every few years, sometimes locally, other times to lands far away.  From Massachusetts to California and back, with a stop along the way in Philadelphia. Yarmouth, Dennis, Yarmouth, Harwich, Yarmouth.  To Vermont, Boston, New Orleans, NH, and back to the Cape.  All of this has been done either in a car, or in a bus,or in a moving van  The greater portion of my childhood was spent on a bike, whether it was a BMX, or a ten speed, or the bike that I got for Christmas one year that my friends nicknamed "Hoona Baloona," there was a always a bike.  Or a moped.  I delivered newspapers as a kid on my bike in my neighborhood, and I deliver them today in my car, 30,000 miles a year x 7+ years . I've driven from Massachusetts to New Orleans and back 3 times.  I delivered phone books in N.O. and drove to Texas for a show. Over to the Florida Panhandle a few times, and down to Ft. Myers. Boston to Ft Myers and back. From San Fransisco to L.A.  Apparently, there's something about being on the road that appeals to me.  I've got the East, South, and West coasts of America pretty well covered. Someday I suppose I'll have to drive over to Seattle to finish it off. During this road trip of a life, I've seen and done most things that I could have imagined. What you might find here will vary between stories from my life, to my opinion on things, to random stuff that I'm thinking.  If you're interested.

On the left hand side of the page you will find a section called  "You Need to Know This." Each week, or so, this segment will feature something you NEED to know about.  Whether you are aware of your need to know it or not is irrelevant.  You do.  Trust me, one day you will let loose your knowledge upon the unsuspecting... and they WILL be impressed.
Or at least you will perceive it as such.  More likely they are thinking, "Dear God, when will it end?  How much longer must I endure this persistent blathering about things for which I do not give even one sh**?!"  Well, I suppose that's the beauty of blogging,  isn't it?  No one can stop me with a withering stare that says, "Shut the f**k up!"  Or a quizzical, "huh?" gaze.  Or a, "Here we go again!" rolling  of the eyes back into their sockets.   I can ramble on to my heart's content about interesting(to me, at least) events in history that colored their future, and our past and present. Or maybe I'll explain the origin of some popular superstitions, or discuss an urban legend, folklore from our country's past, or a movie.  Whatever it is, I hope you find it interesting too.
Ever since I was  a boy, my mother would ask as I launched into a story, "Are we gonna go back to the dinosaurs on this one?"  I'm afraid so Ma.  It's what makes the world interesting...the color...the provenance...the character...the history. That which is past, is prologue to this!  If we do not learn from our past, are we not doomed to repeat it?   If you're not invested in a character, do you care what happens to them?  Would anyone listen to a baseball game on the radio if there was no color commentator? Exactly,  so let's add some color...

  1. Wow...this reminds me of my Black Beauty days (which Dr.Shephard dispensed out of his office on Seaview Ave.)
